Hawke’s Bay’s first Club was The Hawke’s Bay Club; established in August 1863 with a membership of 79. Napier was barely 8 years old at the time. The original Club Rooms were demolished in 1904, with the existing building opening in 1906. The Billiards Room remains as it was built in 1888. The Club entered its second century in 1963 with a membership of 356, 4 bedrooms and a fine wine cellar.
